Kotoko Global, a supporters’ group of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, representing all supporters of Asante Kotoko across the world, has gone to the aid of the family of the late Nicholas Osei Boakye, aka Asanka. Following the final funeral rites of Nicholas, Kotoko Global visited the widow Lydia Osei Nkrumah and the two surviving kids on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at Mpasatia near Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region. The group used the visit to donate an amount of ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 10,000.00) to support the upkeep of the family, especially the kids.
Making the presentation on behalf of the group, Samuel Sonka and Prince Young encouraged Ms. Osei Nkrumah to consider investing the sum in her trading business to generate some appreciable returns to support the family. The group also expressed the desire to avail their diverse expertise to support her business if called upon.
The group further declared their plans to work with the family to secure scholarships from the Otumfour Foundation for the two surviving children. This is the best way to secure the future of the children and make them realize their dreams in the absence of their father.
Background:
Nicholas was a supporter of Asante Kotoko who tragically lost his life on his way home after watching the Ghana Premier League Week 15 match between Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars. He was laid to rest on February 8th, 2025, in his hometown of Mansaso.
The sum of GHS 10,000 was raised through generous voluntary contributions by the members of Kotoko Global in support of one of their own.
May the gentle soul of Nicholas rest well, and may his memory be a blessing.
